Tomorrow.io is Hiring a Radar System Lead Near Golden, CO

Tomorrow.io's Space & Sensors team is responsible for the development of unique RF-based sensing systems, such as radar and sonar, from architecture through implementation. The team is also responsible for the development of corresponding spacecraft and constellations in support of Tomorrow.io's Operation Tomorrow Space, which will collect data to be integrated seamlessly into our existing forecasting and modeling systems, revolutionizing global weather intelligence.

We are looking for a Radar System Lead to join a cutting edge, multidisciplinary team focused on advancing the design, development and deployment of next-generation spaceborne, airborne and ground-based RADAR and radiometer systems. Applications include, but are not limited to, weather monitoring and remote sensing from space-based and airborne platforms. As a Radar System Lead at Tomorrow.io you'll support and lead instrument design, development, integration, and validation of radar payloads for spaceborne, airborne, and/or terrestrial applications. As a Lead, in addition to individual-contributor work, you will also functionally manage the radar systems team in Golden and develop its overall capabilities within the broader Space & Sensors team.

What you'll do:

  • Building and managing the overall radar team based in the Denver area (to complement our MA-based radar team)
  • Support the development of Tomorrow.io satellites from initial concept through initial on-orbit operations to meet technical and schedule requirements.
  • Completion of systems engineering development, artifacts, and analyses supporting the design
  • Verification planning and execution (test definition and processing, various analyses, etc)
  • Radar calibration campaigns. From power measurements to corner reflectors, spherical point targets, and known surfaces data analysis.
  • Modeling and characterization of RF subsystems, digital subsystems, antennas, and integrated radars.
  • Management of subcontractors
  • Mechanical Interfaces, work closely with mechanical engineers in the design of instruments that meet the radar objectives of the mission.
  • Radar calibration campaigns. From power measurements to corner reflectors, spherical point targets, and known surfaces data analysis.
  • Be a technical leader across the aforementioned areas
  • Building and functional management of a small and highly-capable radar-centric team and associated lab infrastructure.

What you bring:

  • B.S. degree (higher levels preferred) in electrical or computer engineering with 10 years experience testing complex hardware, developing test setups; working with relevant test equipment including, but not limited to network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, noise figure meters, power meters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers..
  • Expertise in radar systems
  • Experience in antenna characterization
  • A track record of delivering or enabling the delivery of complex hardware systems
  • Team leadership experience
  • Excellent time-management and communication skills.

This position requires access to technology that is controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations. Accordingly, this position is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and protected individuals unless and until any required licenses are obtained.

So if your passion is to test cutting edge next-generation RADAR systems to provide weather intelligence to the world and have fun while doing so, then this team is for you.

If you have reached this point and you are super excited but not sure you check all the boxes - we still want to speak with you! Your passion is priceless. Other things can be learned.

Anticipated salary range is $175K-$220K, subject to local market and a candidate's skills and experience. Health, leave and other benefits included. Relocation assistance may be offered / available.
