Current vacancy is located in the District Court.
The ideal candidate will:
Under general supervision, performs clerical and secretarial work and provides administrative support to an Elected Official/Department Head.
Positions in this classification report to an Elected Official/Department Head and perform secretarial and administrative support functions of moderate difficulty. This classification is distinguished from the Administrative Assistant which reports to the County Judge/County Commissioners and performs a wide variety of complex secretarial and administrative support work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greets, interacts, and communicates with visitors, contractors, vendors, and others in a professional manner and service-oriented manner; answers questions and provides information requiring a good knowledge of department functions and operations; provides directional information to the public looking for County office locations, as needed.
Answers multiple-line telephone; directs calls, or takes and relays accurate messages, as appropriate.
Operates office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines.
Maintains department files, office equipment histories and inventory, and various calendars.
Enters basic information into automated databases using source documents such as timesheets, statements, bills, applications, and lists.
Prepares documents, memos, and correspondence.
Orders office supplies and equipment as needed or instructed; prepares invoices for filing including calling for Purchase Order and assigning proper budget account number for payment.
Receives, opens, and distributes incoming office mail, and prepares outgoing mail for pick up by courier.
Attends meetings and training sessions.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of clerical procedures, general office operations, and records maintenance; knowledge of the operation of personal computers and associated software.
Ability to read and obtain basic information from parts and maintenance manuals; ability to follow instructions and perform accurate work, as assigned; ability to key data into automated databases in an accurate and timely manner; ability to work effectively with staff, citizens, County officials, and others.
Skill in oral/written communications and interpersonal relations.
Physical Requirements and Work Setting:
Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned environment; prolonged periods of sitting and periodic walking, standing, bending, and reaching; occasional lifting up to 15 lbs; visual acuity, hearing ability, and manual dexterity required.
Education and/or Experience Required:
One year of diversified clerical, secretarial, or general office experience.

None required.
