Supervision Exercised:
Supervises departmental staff.
General Summary:
The primary responsibility is to ensure that the office operates effectively and efficiently and to manage the performance of employees
Works under the supervision of the attending physician(s)
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential Duties:
1. Delegate responsibilities to others and assure that staff members are performing their functions correctly.
2. Perform clinical and/or clerical work for the betterment of the medical office.
3. Complete necessary payroll forms and authorize/deny overtime or PTO time requests.
4. Monitor and improve, when necessary, employee morale.
5. Effectively communicate with the Drs. and staff and keep them updated on issues of concern.
6. Attend medical office manager meetings.
7. Maintain personal relations with patients and address and resolve patient complaints or concerns.
8. Monitor the office’s operation and make adjustments in order to improve upon patient care, ergonomics, employee relations, etc.
9. Maintains adequate equipment and supplies and acquires proper approval for capital expenditures.
10. Develops goals (in conjunction with physicians) and follows through to completion.
Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):
11. Complete medical coding paperwork and/or handle collections.
12. Analyze and interpret department financials and assist with budget formation.
13. Other Duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
- Previous medical office experience required.
- Adheres to, and ensures department’s compliance with, the clinic’s policies and procedures and governing rules and regulations.
- Maintains awareness of the department’s budget and works within the budgetary figures.
- Effectively recruits, retains, disciplines and trains staff.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- May require travel if working in a multi-location practice.
- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- RMA, CMA or current nursing license required.
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures
Education:
- HS diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assisting Diploma/Certification and RMA/CMA credential required or a current Ohio nursing license.
