Toledo Clinic's Ophthalmology Department is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant/Scribe with previous experience in an Ophthalmology Office. This position will perform clerical duties in the office along with scribing and be cross trained as a Tech. The hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:30-5:00 with possible coverage needed on occasional Fridays.

Perform various clerical duties to support the operation of the office. Works under the supervision of the Physician/Office Manager

Ophthalmic Scribes and Technicians are responsible for the direct-patient care. Scribes document medical findings and communication between doctor and patient in Electronic Medical Records. They help with medication and glasses prescriptions, minor procedures and ophthalmic imaging. Technicians record patient histories, chief complaints, and are responsible for the initial slitlamp biomicroscropy examination. They should be familiar with all aspects of a work-up which include checking visual acuity, manual lensometry, refractometry, evaluation of extraocular muscles, APD's, CVF, and angle assessment. We do like to cross-train all employees for both personal growth and to meet business needs.
- Excellent communication, phone, and organizational skills required.

- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time, and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-worker as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Previous clerical experience in a medical office, preferably Ophthalmology required.
Education:
HS diploma or GED.
BLS certified, COA Certified a PLUS
