General Summary:

Responsible for the entering of procedure (CPT) codes, proper modifiers, and submission of clean claims from charge tickets. Review various ECW claim statuses to correct any claim errors and denials.Works under the supervision of the Director of Revenue Cycle

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Reviews physical therapy encounter forms and other source documents to determine procedure (CPT) and modifier usage. 
2. Ensure that patients are charged for all procedures via encounter forms or worklist.
3. Liaison between Physical Therapy office manager and business services.
4. Data entry of codes.
5. Entry and confirmation of patient demographic information. 
6. Verification of patient insurance information.
7. Review and submission of various claim statuses in ECW regarding errors and denials
8. Enter procedures and visits through various insurance carrier portals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Required:

• Practical knowledge and understanding of industry nomenclature; medical and procedural terminology; anatomy and physiology; pharmacology; and disease processes.
• Excellent organizational skills required.
• Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
• Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
• Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
• Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.

Education: 

Preferred:

• Previous experience in Physical Therapy billing
• Billing/Coding Certificate
