Together Women's Health is Hiring a Phlebotomist Near Clinton, MI

Overview

Under general supervision, provides support with various functions such as: skilled specimen collection, specimen transportation. Ensures smooth work and patient flow within the practice.

The ideal applicant will be able to travel between our Clinton Township, Chesterfield, and Detroit practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques.
  • Dipstick urinalysis and manual microscopy
  • Glucose testing via finger stick method and phlebotomy.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of specimens to maintain sample integrity.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment. 
  • Ensure that instruments are cleaned & sterilized.
  • Inventories, orders, and restocks supplies as needed.
  • Completes all documentation pertaining to patient's medical record and test(s) performed with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with people inside and outside the department and/or practice.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer services skills and supports the model of patient and family centered care in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of the practice.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (required)
  • Minimum of 2-years’ experience working as a lab tech/phlebotomist in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience at an OBGYN office (Preferred).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of legal implications of charting, documents clearly and objectively, all encounters with patients.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments.
  • Proficient in navigating EMR system(s).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply logic and draw conclusions based on knowledge. Ability to refer to reference materials to solve problems.
  • General mathematical skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Prepare and interpret charts and graphs. Ability to compute ratio and precent.
  • A professional demeanor towards patients, providers, and team members is always expected.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with patients, and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner always.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Must know, understand, and comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 2 pounds to a maximum of 20 pounds unassisted; able to sit stand, stoop, walk, stretch, reach frequently; moderate range of body motions.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to travel to all 3 locations: Clinton Township, Chesterfield, and Detroit. 
  • Reliable transportation
