To The Rescue is Hiring a Human Services Assistant Director Near Rapids, IA

Summary of Position/Objective
The Human Services Assistant Director provides leadership and supports the vision for the Human Services team and builds services and support systems to improve the lives of clients. This position provides business growth by providing exceptional services.
The Human Services Assistant Director also provides direct supervision to Human Service Managers and Coordinators by providing leadership, direction, relaying legislative changes, and providing feedback about performance. The Human Services Assistant Director ensures TTR Policies and Procedures are being used in the service delivery best practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and upholds To The Rescue’s values and policies.
  • Develops relationships with area service providers, businesses, organizations and individuals who will enrich the mission of To The Rescue.
  • Supports the execution of the business plan through collaboration with key internal stakeholders to support the growth and development of the organization.
  • In conjunction, with the Director of Human Service and Director of Compliance reviews and aligns policies, procedures, and processes for the department.
  • Responsible for staff training and development and ensures all required employee training is completed in a timely manner.
  • Provides program oversight functions related to operational excellence.
  • Supports employee development, evaluations, coaching, and counseling in a timely manner.
  • Trains staff development managers and coordinators to effectively support employee development.
  • Ensures prompt and effective communication by employees.
  • Spearheads employee retention and supports employee acquisition.
  • Reviews monthly schedules for designated programs, to ensure adherence with approved hours, employee schedule hours reflect employee status with the organization.
  • Supports compliance of medication administration with employees.
  • Reviews and approves all member incident reports involving employee needs and provides feedback for remediation and mitigation.
  • Reviews incident reports for trends and collaborates with teams to improve supports to members served.
  • Acts as the human services risk management liaison providing timely feedback and mitigation.
  • Provides support and participates in the on-call system to effectively manage program needs.
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior that reflects the mission and goals of To The Rescue.
  • Provides support to talent acquisition to ensure staffing levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Competencies/Qualifications/Education
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Have knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures.
  • Have working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations affecting Iowa.
  • Have working knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office that includes Word, Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn computer programs.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and provide instruction and direction to employees on maintaining compliance with policies, rules and procedures for scheduling and timekeeping.
  • Ability to respond well under pressure.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in human services, social work or related field and/or four or more years of related experience.

Certificates/Licenses/Registration
The employee must provide and maintain a valid driver's license for the entire duration of their employment and be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance.

Supervisory Responsibility
This role directly supervises the hourly program. Assistant Director will provide supervisory support to Human Service programs at the direction of the Director of Human Services.

Work Hours
Hours are varied depending on the needs of the organization. This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position requires hours that exceed a typical 8-hour work day as needed. The position is available to take calls related to needs of the department.

Travel
Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasionally travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel.
