Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Production Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing operations and possess strong leadership abilities.

Purpose and Scope

Assumes full responsibility on the shift for all activities, subordinates and equipment in the Molding Department, as well as for the orderly operation of each piece of equipment; oversees all floor personnel assigned to their shift. Employee also has the obligation and authority to complete all tasks assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Shift Supervisor is directly responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

· Ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed.

· Ensure that all safety policies are followed and that commonsense prevails at all times.

· Promote and foster team spirit and communication with co-workers and other departments.

· Maintain and promote the QUALITY POLICY and workmanship standards.

· Maintain a neat appearance and work area at all times.

· Comes to work prepared with appropriate clothing.

· Production Supervisor has the authority to recommend hiring, firing, and pay of subordinates.

· Ensure that machines are running as safely and efficiently as possible.

· Check set-up and mold before start-up to ensure that the set-up was completed properly.

· Monitor production from machines throughout shift and log on production sheet.

· Regularly and customarily must exercise discretionary power.

· Devotes less than half of work time on activities unrelated to management.

· Accurately track set-up times, down-times, pull-out times and record on production sheet.

· Oversee work of Material Handlers and Set-up Technicians.

· This job regularly directs the work of two or more subordinates.

· Start-up machines.

· Communicate daily with prior and incoming shifts.

· Inspect auxiliary equipment and log problems on end of shift notes, if applicable.

· Troubleshoot issues and resolve immediately.

· Handles employee complaints and discipline.

· Communicate issues or concerns with the Molding Manager and the Vice President of Operations.

· Accountable for every part molded during shift.

· Notify Tool Room Manager when molds are malfunctioning.

· As necessary, set-up and monitor secondary operations at machines.

· Ensures work instructions are up to date and being adhered to.

· Issue employee warning notice to personnel when company rules, regulations and standards are not followed.

· Follow procedures in IQ to monitor scrap, standards, productivity and machine utilization.

· Set an example for co-workers.

· Document all services such as mold changes, mold cleaning, cycle adjustments and repairs performed by you or others during the shift.

· Direct and coordinate all production activities in the molding department to insure that molding production schedule priorities are maintained and being followed.

· BE ON TIME, BE COURTEOUS AND BE KNOWLEDGEABLE

Accountabilities

· Will Hand over the shift to the next Supervisor in a condition as good as or better than it was at the beginning of their shift, as evidenced by the oncoming shift Supervisor’s approval.

· Will ensure that housekeeping rules are followed and enforced, as evidenced by random walk through and manager audits.

· Will ensure that company policies and procedures are enforced, as evidenced from warning.

· Will confirm that Production Tracking Reports are accurately completed, as evidenced from random manager audits and Planning Departments input.

· Will ensure that Malfunctioning equipment is reported to the responsible department’s Supervisor or Manager, as evidenced from equipment repair forms filled-out and submitted.

· Will ensure that parts are molded to IQ standard cycle time, as evidenced by IQ Report. (Meeting 99% cycle efficiency tracking report.)

· Will ensure that the reject rate is less than 2%, as evidenced by daily reject tracking report.

· Will ensure that only acceptable parts are produced and packaged, as evidenced by production tracking report and customer returns or complaints.

· Will ensure that assigned personnel have performed their duties, as evidenced by production tracking report.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· May Supervise as few as 2 and more than 25 employees on a given day.

The Production Supervisor, regardless of other duties, has a direct responsibility to the VP of Operations, and to follow the company’s quality and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each and every essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Training

· High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

· The Plant Manager, Vice President, and/or President can determine whether education and training is “equivalent” based on his/her experience.

Technical Requirements

· Must have knowledge of tooling and processing methods of all types of fabricated parts and components.

Experience

· Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in injection molding and troubleshooting.

· Four (4) Supervisory experience preferably in a plastic molding injection environment.

Language Skills

· The Shift Supervisor must be able to communicate clearly, as well as understand how to read and write English.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
