TN Voices is Hiring an Outreach Specialist Near Johnson, TN

Qualifications:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Certified Family Support Specialist preferred. Self-identify as being or having been the biological parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, or relative caregiver with legal or authorized custody of a child or youth with a mental, emotional, behavioral, or co-occurring disorder. Personal experience with children’s mental health issues and in navigating child-serving systems within the last 10 years. Non-profit organization experience and work history within child serving systems preferred.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
  • Knowledge of the service area and of resources for children with mental health issues.
  • Knowledge and experience with juvenile justice, educational, child welfare and/or other child-serving systems.
  • Desire to help and support parents of children with a Serious Emotional Disturbance, with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to actively network with community agencies, systems, and develop responses to broader needs.
  • Demonstrate training abilities on subject matter, organization for training events, outreach, and recruitment.
  • Public speaking required.
  • Commitment to system of care principles, cultural competency, and effective teamwork.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving/creative thinking skills.
  • Basic computer skills include Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Zoom.
  • Comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) obligations.
  • Ability to travel, access to reliable transportation and current auto insurance required.
  • Ability to obtain CFSS Certification within 1 year from date of hire.
Duties & Responsibilities/Principal Activities:
  • Provide information and referral, advocacy, and support to families of children with emotional and behavioral problems.
  • Attend family team meetings or other meetings including those related to the educational, juvenile justice, and child welfare systems on a case-by-case basis to support parents and facilitate cooperation between professionals and parents, with parents as equal partners.
  • Encourage and support the coordination of services for children with SED and their families, through role modeling and supporting system of care principles.
  • Maintain parent and professional contact documentation in the (ECR) Electronic Client Record.
  • Comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) obligations.
  • Provide community trainings and presentations. These can have a mental health focus, agency program related, advocacy, education, and/or parenting curriculums.
  • Develop, recruit for, and provide ongoing assistance/consultation/training/outreach with groups of parents, professional staff, and interested community members.
  • Ability to provide training in a live format and/or virtual format, ability to engage trainees.
  • Maintain a prominent presence in the community as a strong representative for the agency.
  • Outreach to community partners for the purpose of referrals, obtaining needed services.
  • Complete monthly reporting and documentation as needed in a timely manner.
  • Attend meetings as assigned which may include local and regional mental health planning councils, Community Advisory Boards, and local collaborative agency meetings.
  • Other duties and/or tasks as assigned.
