Description
As the Director of Sales, your main job is to generate new business, grow existing clients, and increase occupancy, sales, and profits especially during the slow season. You must develop and execute a comprehensive Marketing plan that results in achievement of revenue goals for the hotel. The DOS is the liaison between the hotel and the surrounding community. As such, you must remain active in the business community to ensure on-going networking opportunities. Heavy competition is the norm in sales, you must love to prospect for new business and be competitive enough to steal business away from our competitors! You must be a good listener, understand what our customers want, then with your outstanding product knowledge and negotiating ability, you take the “reason for the buy” sincerely and use a truthful, value-oriented method to meet the needs of our customers and the owner of this hotel.
Requirements
PERSONALITY/PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
As the DOS, you must possess excellent written and oral communication skills in customer relations. You must be aggressive in targeting new business, but understand the delicate balance needed to maximize revenue while still satisfying our customers. An entrepreneurial spirit is desirable, as bonuses are based on performance. Characteristics that superb DOS’s possess are an outgoing nature, persistence, self-motivation, goal-oriented, with a special flare for negotiation. 80% of your time will be devoted to customer contact, whether it be in person, over the phone, or online. Dress for success, your professional appearance will reflect positively on our hotel. You should enjoy asking for business and closing sales, be it with a new customer whom you aggressively pursued, or a customer with whom you have or will nurture a long-term relationship. The DOS will have the ability to work effectively under pressure and build solid relationships internally and externally.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Reacts promptly to requests from Corporate, General Manger and other members of upper management.
