JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Grounds Maintenance Supervisor Position Type: Full-time

Department: Facilities Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director of Facilities
Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee maintenance of the entire grounds and
landscaped areas of the TMI campus. Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, coordinates
and directs grounds maintenance, and athletics field activities; plans, develops, and implements
landscaping and projects; trains and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.

Essential Job Duties

These functions are not all-inclusive, nor do they cover the full extent of duties performed.

1. Ensure well-manicured campus grounds and exterior of all facilities. This includes the following

duties: cutting grass, operating weed-eater, trim vegetation, control weed growth, remove dead
plants, pick up trash, trim trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch as needed.

2. Plan, develop and implement landscaping projects.
3. Observe and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, codes, and procedures.
4. Supervise employees and coordinate their tasks. Follow up on assigned duties to make sure that

work is performed in a neat and professional manner and report any concerns or problems with the
Director of Facilities.

5. Train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
6. Make sure that all equipment is kept in good working condition. Report equipment damage and

coordinate repair schedules with the Facilities Manager.
7. Properly maintain and use outdoor equipment such as the truck, tractor, mowers, weed eaters, and

tools of the facilities and plant department.
8. Wear all required safety equipment during the operations of equipment such as weed eaters, mowers,

and power tools.
9. Program irrigation and make irrigation system repairs as needed. Follow watering restrictions during

drought conditions.
10. Coordinate the need for supplies and equipment with the Facilities Manager.
11. Immediately advise the Facilities Manager of any potential safety deficiencies.
12. The grounds team is a part of the larger facilities team and will help support school needs with duties

as assigned.

Skills

Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Perform in a fast-
paced environment and be able to take initiative. Be flexible to changing priorities and demonstrate
professionalism and integrity.

Experience

1. At least 18 years of age with valid proof of age.
2. High School diploma or GED desired.
3. Minimum of three years directly related experience.
4. Valid driver license.

Education

High School Diploma

Licenses & Certifications

Valid Driver’s License, certified electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or other designations are preferred.

Physical Requirements

1. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy objects 50 pounds.
2. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of hand and power tools and heavy equipment.
3. Bending at the waist, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
4. Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally
5. Must be able to operate a tractor, deck mower and weed eater.
6. May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time. May be required to be outdoors for long

periods of time.
