The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD seeks to hire a part-time drama teacher beginning with the 2023/2024 year. KTS is a private special education school serving students with language, learning, sensory motor disabilities and/or high functioning autism. The lower/middle school program includes classes for K-8th grade. Hours are 9:45am - 3:30pm Tuesday - Thursday.

Responsibilities include:

• Implement content area curricula
• Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group and program needs
• Implement IEPs
• Create a supportive learning environment
• Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
• Create partnerships with parents and the Katherine Thomas School Community
• Create fun and engaging lessons

Required Experience for the Drama Teacher:

• Bachelor's degree in special education or content area (Drama)
• Eligible for MD Teaching Certification in Special Education
• Experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments preferred

As a condition of employment, all employees are required to have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. New hires must receive any additional vaccine doses in the appropriate timeframes to be considered fully vaccinated and submit weekly test results until they are fully vaccinated. Requests for religious or medical exemptions will be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
