Job Description:

Exciting career opportunity serving adults with disabilities - the Outcomes Department at The Treatment and Learning Centers in Rockville, MD is seeking to fill an opening for a Community Development Specialist. Join us if you enjoy helping others and making a difference in the community.

Responsibilities of the Community Development Specialist:

  • Develop and coordinate community job placements and community relationships and partnerships
  • Develop strategic marketing plans
  • Teach job-seeking skills
  • Develop an employer network for paid and volunteer job placement and perform on-site assessments
  • Job coach as needed
Experience and Skills:

Required Experience for the Community Development Specialist:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Special Education, or Marketing preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in job development and with individuals with disabilities or equivalent experience
  • Some knowledge of the types of services TLC offers is helpful
  • Must have the ability to advocate for people with disabilities
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license, car, and be able to maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Previous experience in sales, Ticket-to-Work, and with employer tax credits is desirable
  • Recruiting or closely related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills
  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and coach individuals
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Computer literacy is required
  • A background in sales or marketing is a plus

As a condition of employment, all employees are required to have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. New hires must receive any additional vaccine doses in the appropriate timeframes to be considered fully vaccinated and submit weekly test results until they are fully vaccinated. Requests for religious or medical exemptions will be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
