KTS has an opportunity (20 hours/week) for an art teacher to teach beginning with the 2023/2024 school year. The Katherine Thomas School is a private special education school that services students with language, learning, and sensory motor disabilities plus moderate to high functioning autism. This special education teacher position will work with students in grades K-8th teaching Art. EOE
Responsibilities for the Art Teacher include:
- Develop instruction following the Maryland State Curriculum, providing necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
- Create a supportive learning environment
- Create partnerships with parents and the KTS community
Experience and Skills:
Required Experience for the Art Teacher:
- Bachelors Degree
- Experience Teaching Art, special education experience preferred
- Maryland Teaching Certification in content area or ability to get the certification upon hire
- Team Oriented, Reliable, Professional Attitude
As a condition of employment, all employees are required to have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. New hires must receive any additional vaccine doses in the appropriate timeframes to be considered fully vaccinated and submit weekly test results until they are fully vaccinated. Requests for religious or medical exemptions will be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
