Responsible for placement of the line and ensure the line placement iscorrectly inserted.TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ability to work independently.Communicates effectively and appropriately topatients, family and other health care providers.Completes required paperwork.Provides patient education about the PICC (ormidline) insertion and the care and maintenance issues post insertionParticipates in performance improvementactivities by providing information about each PICC (or midline) insertion tothe facility staff as requestedDemonstrates ability to assess patient past andcurrent medical history including laboratory values, venous and muscle skeletalstatus that is pertinent in qualifying a patient as a candidate for PICCplacement.Assures physicians order on chart for PICCplacement.Assures Informed Consent has been obtained.Performs time out; correct patient identifierprior to initiating PICC procedure.Demonstrates ability to perform PICC placementmaintaining aseptic technique utilizing measures that prevent patientdiscomfort and trauma related to procedure.Demonstrates high level skills in criticalthinking and assessment related to vascular access devices.Maintains clinical competency by inserting aminimum of six PICCs/year and by performing one observed successful PICCinsertionDocuments insertion of PICC (or midline),confirmation of placement by radiologist for PICC, and medicationadministration, in accordance with company policyProvides facility nurses/staff instructionsabout the patient's PICC (or midline) care and maintenanceAssist Territory Managers in meetings forclinical support as neededAssist Director of Vascular Access in facilityrounds to meet with and support Directors ofNursing, Administration and Nursing staffIs responsible for the fiscal viability of thePICC program by entering the charges for the insertion, proper usage ofequipment, and productive use of timeMaintains patient confidentiality.AdditionalInformation: Candidate will have to utilize their own vehicle and will be paid .32/mile after the first 50 of each day Patient Population: Adult only PICC Nurse would travel to Nursing Homes and Acute Care Hospitals to provide services.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of thisjob.
