Regional Commercial Flooring company has an opening for an experienced Estimator located near Wilmington, NC. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to be part of a half century firm that prides itself as a leader in professionalism in the commercial flooring market.

Applicants must be able to present and discuss: 1) Background and abilities as an Estimator, 2) Eagerness to learn new technologies and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, 3) Currently possess the skills necessary to accurately complete estimates with minimal training/guidance. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

Willing to train the right applicant that may not have a background specifically in estimating flooring products at the commercial level, but does have core competencies that will translate into what we do. Responsibilities include:

• Use blueprints, site measurements, and specifications to quantify & price materials, labor, and logistics
• Generate RFI’s and solicit quotes from material vendors and labor partners
• Recognize value engineering opportunities and generate pricing for add/alternates and change orders
• Prepare organized estimates and professional project proposals
• Participate in scope reviews with Project and Senior Management prior to contract execution for awarded projects
• Debrief the Project Management Team with a thorough hand-off on awarded projects
• Review completed projects to evaluate accuracy, quantifying cost assumptions, and waste percentages at close out of project

Qualifications:

• Comprehensive understanding of commercial resilient and ceramic tile flooring products & installation methodologies
• Computer proficiency
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Must work well in a team environment
• Time management skills – Ability to track and meet deadlines independently
• Exceptional work ethic and ability to self-perform responsibilities
• Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in this or very similar role
• This is an autonomous role that will be measured, compensated and rewarded accordingly

Desired Skills:

• Strong math skills
• Computer proficiency – Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
• Experience with Measure Square, Callidus, or similar estimating software a plus
• Knowledge of commercial flooring products and installation procedures
• Ability to identify factors that will have an impact on cost: site logistics, installation schedules, conflicts between drawings and approved installation methods, etc.
