Position Summary:

This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening.ICU management/experience preferred (as an RN or APP), new graduates will be reviewed.

Advanced Practice Professional will provide health care and specialized health services to patients and families enrolled in Cardiovascular ICU Medicine.The APP will provide care of this patient population in collaboration with all members of the health care team.This position will be 100% inpatient with 100% Adult Case Load.

-Independently evaluates patients in the hospital

-Works closely with CVICU physicians, Surgeons, and Interventional Cardiology

-Ordering/interpreting testing and lab results, modifying plan of care to address results

-Provide clinical expertise and direction to support patient management

-Maintain accurate documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatments to physicians, streamline the patient transfer process between levels of care, including communicating specific patient needs to internal and external team members and other healthcare providers

-Perform other related duties as required to assure patient safety and satisfaction

-Participate in the development and presentation of educational experiences for patients, families, and health care professionals

Procedures – procedural lines, chest tubes, a-lines, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.In collaboration with physician(s), APP will provide independent acute and/or routine medical care to a patients and families enrolled in Cardiovascular Medicine

2.Manages appropriate orders

3.Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods

4.Coordinates the activities of patient care and support staff within the setting

5.Creates progress notes in EMR indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed

6.Provides health education to patients, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups

7.Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops

8.May perform clinical research related to specific operations

9.Performs other job-related duties as assigned

GENERAL SUMMARY: The NP-ICU/Critical Care will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary critical care unit. The NP-ICU/Critical Care will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to critically ill patients and their families. Provides inpatient medical care for critically ill patients requiring ICU level of care. Works in collaboration with intensivist physicians, attending physicians, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in nursing. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current state license as a Registered Nurse. Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
