POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

Time and Alarm Systems, a division of Sciens Building Solutions, seeks a Low Voltage Systems Estimator with the ideal candidate being a driven individual who will play a key role in TAS’ and Sciens’ growth by developing and maintaining customer relationships, bidding projects accurately and on time, while developing comprehensive Low Voltage System estimates for Military/DoD/Federal projects. The successful candidate must be detail oriented and willing to work in multiple areas of the low voltage field including Fire Alarm, Emergency Responder Radio Communication System (ERRCS), Security Alarm, Voice/Data Cabling Infrastructure, Audio/Visual Systems, Mass Notification, Access Control, Surveillance/ CCTV, Clocks, and Pro Audio Applications.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

  • Efficiently completing the low voltage system estimating lifecycle process from beginning to end, including timelines, deadlines, and estimating packages.
  • Work within an estimating team on individual or team-based projects.
  • Coordinate total estimating efforts relevant to particular bid or project.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships.
  • Meet Company budget volume and gross margin targets.
  • Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on projects.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required content of project estimates. Perform necessary research to produce accurate, complete, and competitive pricing.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work using estimating software.
  • Reviewing all project requirements and specifications when preparing estimates and proposals.
  • Determine any risks related to the estimate and include in project proposals.
  • Ensure that estimates and proposals are complete, well-organized, and ready for review before the given deadline.
  • Prepare project proposals and participate in pre-bid review process where necessary.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-ups. Coordinate with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
  • Partner with our operations teams to properly transfer awarded projects.
  • Communicate with customers to properly define the project scope and address design issues/deficiencies.
  • Being active in the local low voltage industry, attend local industry sponsored events and educate local professionals and authorities on new codes products and standards.
  • Pursue and obtain industry certifications and credentials.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU

  • Two to five years of experience as an Estimator in the low voltage system construction industry.
  • Low Voltage System experience and design-build and/or military experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of current building codes and UFC’s.
  • Strong technical understanding of materials and methods used in the installation of low voltage system projects.
  • Customer-focused, skilled in estimating and people management.
  • Ability to complete project bidding in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams; and follow specifications.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, estimating software and Construction Management platforms.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with deadlines that need to be met.
