Timberline Building Systems is Hiring a Construction Estimator Near Colorado, CO

Timberline Building Systems was formed in 2018 by Tim Emick, the founder of Timberline Landscaping. As a Timberline One company, Timberline Building Systems harnesses the power of the most reputable and best educated subcontractors in Colorado Springs and the Front Range. With general contracting projects such as Panorama Park in Colorado Springs, we are proven to shine in scopes of work that include site infrastructure, outdoor amenities, and small structures.

This position is responsible for managing and estimating incoming projects for the business unit to bid on per the direction of the Business Unit Leader. This includes, but is not limited to, project discovery, estimating, contract negotiation, providing feedback and information under construction, and project close out.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret construction documents including RFPs, plans, specifications, and standards to understand scope of projects for estimating and contract compliance
  • Perform quantity takeoffs of documents using takeoff software or manual field measurements
  • Participate in site visits to better understand the requirements of the bid documents
  • Estimate labor and equipment costs associated with bid documents
  • Obtain bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to be used in estimates
  • Submit bid questions to the customer by the question cutoff date
  • Prepare Bids and Proposals using takeoff quantities, labor and equipment estimates, subcontractor and supplier quotes, as well as any other costs for a given project by the bid date
  • Prepare required proposal and bid documentation as part of the submission to the customer
  • Schedule, participate in and prepare agendas for project meetings such as Pre-Bids, Pre-Construction, “Makers and Breakers”,, etc…
  • Manage and organize job folders
  • Maintain positive relationships with industry partners and vendors
  • Participate in company sponsored training as required
  • Perform special projects as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Construction processes and methods
  • Effective communication skills; including writing, routine correspondence, reports, presenting to employees, and interpersonal communication
  • Excellent time management, project management and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Driven to pursue improvements and projects without substantial supervision
  • Positive attitude with a professional demeanor and appearance, be team oriented, and be a strong role model for ethics and integrity
  • Proficient computer skills using a windows environment and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel, including data entry
  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must pass post-offer background check consisting of employment history, personal/professional references, criminal record, and MVR
  • Must be willing to do things outside of your job description, all team members help and support other departments when necessary

Desired Qualities:

  • Knowledge of State and Local Stormwater Management requirements
  • Knowledge of Sage Estimating, Sage 300, and E-Takeoff software
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Occasionally required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • This job is an indoor/outdoor job which will require time spent in a desk environment using a computer as well as exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Fast-paced, fun, and casual office environment??
  • Going off site to sales meetings/pitches, client site meetings, visiting vendors, and evaluations
