Timber Automation is Hiring a Laborer Near Baxley, GA

Summary/Objective 
A Laborer keeps manufacturing areas free of debris and dirt. They will assist Assembly to put parts together, Cut up in cutting metal sheets for the parts, and at times materials by ensuring all departments have the necessary parts. They will need to be able to use a grinder, overhead crane, forklift and ladder.

Essential Functions 

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Operates fabrication shop machinery and equipment including, but not limited to welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts. Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. 

  • Removes all welding slag, burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from workpiece. 

  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as cleaning and changing consumable parts.

  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervision. 

Competencies 

  • Follow all shop safety policies and practices. 

  • Weld in all positions (flat, vertical, and overhead) with a consistent weld bead size 

  • Ability to read a tape measure. 

  • Work well in a team environment. 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to welding fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and does require hearing protection. 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds with a weight limit of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for day-shift and 4:30 p.m. to 2:30am for night shift, 40 hours per week. Overtime hours as needed. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. 

Travel 

No travel is expected for this position. 

Required Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED diploma 

  • Three to six months’ welding experience, or trade schooling 

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Fabrication and/or welding certificate received from trade school. 

  • Three to six months’ work experience in fabrication shop.

This position requires a preemployment background and drug test.
