Team Intro
USDS Financial Crime Compliance is responsible for overseeing and operationalizing all aspects related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions Compliance activities related to TikTok USDS's operations. Collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders across the U.S. and global, we address complex and cutting-edge challenges, which include the identification of money-laundering, terrorist financing and sanction violations. We seek a highly motivated, and experienced professional to join our team.
In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.
Position Overview
As the Sanctions Compliance Lead, you will ensure our organization's adherence to all relevant sanctions laws, regulations, and internal global sanctions policy. You will be responsible for spearheading the development, implementation, and oversight of an effective sanction compliance program, playing a pivotal role in mitigating the risk of violations and safeguarding the organization's integrity and reputation.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of sanctions compliance policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Oversee the implementation, optimization, and assessment of sanction compliance technology solutions, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational needs, while performing tuning and configuration changes to enhance screening accuracy and minimize false positives.
  • Conduct thorough sanction risk assessments to identify and assess potential sanction-related risks and vulnerabilities across the organization's operations, products, and services.
  • Oversee the monitoring and review of transactions and user screening to detect and prevent potential OFAC violations.
  • Investigate and escalate any suspected OFAC breaches or violations, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to address and resolve compliance issues promptly.
  • Stay informed of changes in sanctions programs, regulations, and enforcement actions, providing guidance to leadership on sanction compliance matters, emerging OFAC-related developments and best practices for sanctions compliance.
  • Prepare and submit OFAC-related reports, notifications, and disclosures to regulatory authorities and other relevant parties as required.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of sanction compliance activities, including documentation of policies, procedures, risk assessments, and screening systems.
  • Perform special projects and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sanctions compliance with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of sanctions laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations, including familiarity with OFAC sanctions programs and other relevant sanctions regimes.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate sanctions-related risks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with regulators, industry associations, and internal cross-functional teams to stay informed of best practices and emerging issues in compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable compliance measures.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, with a commitment to upholding integrity and ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in utilizing and optimizing sanction compliance technology solutions, including experience with screening engines, configuration management, and watchlist management.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and mitigating sanction risk within the financial services industry.
  • Experience conducting sanction-related risk assessments and developing compliance strategies to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies and their application in enhancing sanctions compliance processes.

Job Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $147000 - $374000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
