Tiffany & Co. is Hiring a Manager, Store Design Architect Near New York, NY

The Manager, Store Design Architect is responsible for leading and organizing Designer(s) and their teams for multiple, simultaneous retail projects. The ideal candidate is responsible for conceptual design through a creative approach, design development, project reviews, project communications, quality and design control, scheduling, and project reporting. This individual must be detailed oriented and have the ability to develop design concepts within the Tiffany and Company standards and manage the Interiors and finishes component of each project.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Oversee and set design direction for store design planning projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring project design fits within the Tiffany standards and within budget.
  • Define and frame design challenges, focusing team efforts on solutions aligned with the brand vision and intent.
  • Deliver an exciting customer experience.
  • Independently lead and coordinate with all members of the design team and internal partners to ensure that Tiffany design and operational standards are maintained in all aspects and on schedule.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Design Development sets (including drawings and specifications).
  • Revise and redline the construction drawings set, as appropriate.
  • Implements preliminary design schematics, developed design sets and transversal team coordination for the development of his/ her defined projects.
  • Coordinates with internal partners (CVM, Merchandising, Security, IT). 
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are within budget and meet the needs of internal partners.
  • In partnership with VP, evaluate the success of store designs and define and lead future design initiatives to support evolving needs of the brand.
  • Standardize organized communication, record keeping, and internal processes to ensure clear communication among project teams.
  • Manage and oversee all external consultants in the development of Construction Documents. Must be familiar and capable of corresponding to all architectural document phases from DD sets, SD sets to complete construction documents.
  • Ensure external aspects of project are within budget.
  • Communicates concisely to review issues and design solutions with external vendors.
  • Design presentations for leadership
  • Manage weekly reporting on status of projects in alignment with Planning and Store Design Committee cadence
  • Partner with Procurement and Planning teams to define and evolve strategies for onboarding of new vendors and development of services and commodities as related to Standards scope.
  • Review new retail locations and lease terms
  • Manage and oversee all external consultants in the development of Construction Documents. Must be familiar and capable of corresponding to all architectural document phases from DD sets, SD sets to complete construction documents.
  • Provide support to all Store Planning and Store Development team members and internal clients for all design aspects of the projects to ensure the environment is built to the design intent.
  • Review and inspect all completed projects to ensure that design and operational intent is maintained.
  • Communicates with team and during presentations to management regarding project status and design.
  • Present and clarify complex aspects of Store Design to regional partners with the goal of shared understanding and solid alignment.
  • Create a positive, innovative, and collaborative culture of designers.
  • Provide guidance and direction to ensure engagement and hold individuals accountable for achieving results.
  • Ensure the alignment of individual goals with overall business objectives.
  • Manage staff on team, give direction and guidance.
  • Coach and develop support staff to efficiently meet the needs of the business.
  • Uphold the values of teamwork through motivation and mentoring of the team and identifying educational opportunities to improve the team’s knowledge of processes.

Required Qualifications 

  • Degree in Architecture
  • 10 years experience or 7 years experience with advanced degree
  • Experience in project management and coordination as well as staff management
  • Experience in high-end residential or luxury retail
  • Proven ability to detail and think 3-dimensionally
  • Architectural license preferred

The hiring range for this position ranges from $117,810 – $166,320. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
