Tiegerman Community Services is Hiring a Lead Direct Support Professional Near Kings Park, NY
Tiegerman Community Services is currently seeking a Lead Direct Support Professional to join our IRA located in Kings Park, New York. Tiegerman Community Services (TCS) provides services to adults with developmental disabilities in Queens, Suffolk, and Nassau Counties and is approved by the New York State Office for People with Disabilities (OPWDD).
Responsibilities:
- Assist/monitor/teach individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygiene
- Assist/monitor/teach individuals as needed in grocery shopping, menu planning, meal preparation and clean up
- Assist/monitor/teach individuals on completion of daily chores
- Provide light housekeeping in Residential Program( all common areas of the home)
- Meet with individuals (as needed) on an individual basis to discuss concerns, problems. Serve, as an informal advocate for residents
- Assist/monitor/teach individuals in holding meetings and informal discussion groups with peers
- Supervise individuals in on and off campus activities
- Handle emergency situations appropriately
- Utilize crisis interventions when necessary
- Complete required documentation
- Assist with maintaining program documents
- Provide first-aid assistance to all individuals and assist in the follow through on medical needs for residents
- Assure individuals follow routines
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator
- Report suspected abuse & neglect to supervisor immediately (within one hour)
- Transport individuals to and from community outings
- Assist with Monthly Billing
- Responsible for ensuring the keys, bags and PEX cards are secure daily
- Attend Life Plan Meetings as needed
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/Equivalent Education
- Pass background check
- Valid NYS Driver’s license
- Ability to learn/perform SCIP, AMAP, CPR
