Tidelands Health is Hiring a Physical Therapist Assistant - Outpatient (GMH TH Rehab -Murrells Inlet) - Murrells Inlet, SC Near Myrtle, SC

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Responsible for providing a full range of therapeutic services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualification, professional practices, and ethical standards. A physical therapist assistant (PTA) must be able to follow the evaluation of a patient’s condition and deliver the customized physical rehabilitation and treatment plan. The physical therapist assistant shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. The employee may have job functions where they will handle and deliver medications based on the requirements of their job in the assigned work facility. The employee will complete other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Treat patients by using therapeutic and self-care activities and exercise designed to improve function under the direction of the physical therapist (PT)
  • reassess patients' functional ability through various standardized tests, measuring patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, and level of independence with daily activities, and records findings and updates PT
  • Administer a designated treatment plan for patients with specific goals and tasks developed by the PT
  • Administers treatments involving application of physical agents, such as cold packs, contrast baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, Iontophoresis, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound machines
  • Records treatment, responses, and progress in the patient’s electronic medical record and prepare reports as indicated by licensure, the PT, the provider, and or insurance recommendations
  • Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Completes documentation per clinical / department guidelines and meets expectations of monthly department chart audits.
  • NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Complete required orientation as directed by facility
    • Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
    • Follow facility and Joint Commission guidelines and recommendations
    • Respect cultural and religious practices of patients
    • Uphold HIPAA regulations
    • Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
    • Promoted / educated Tidelands Health Rehabilitation programs to referring physicians, healthcare providers, and or co-workers by performing in-services and/or marketing activities.
    • Proactively impacts his or her cancel / no show percentage as it relates to improving quality care and patient outcomes.
    • Achieves the established average monthly patient care productivity metric

    REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION:

    Must be a graduate of an accredited therapy program and performed the required clinical internships satisfactorily

    EXPERIENCE:

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    Licensed by the state of South Carolina Board of Physical Therapist Assistant Examiners

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    Ability to utilize therapy equipment an outpatient rehabilitation setting to provide treatment and procedures preferred.

    ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION: None required

    FUNCTIONAL SUPERVISION:  Functional supervision of rehab technicians

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium-Heavy: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 35 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 15 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
