Position Summary: Tidal Basin seeks a competent Appeals Coordinator for various Florida housing and sheltering programs. These programs seek to aid in recovery from Hurricane Ian by providing temporary or permanent repairs to damaged homes.  

The objective of the Appeals Coordinator is to manage the appeals process for an assigned caseload of applicants seeking temporary or permanent repairs to their homes following Hurricane Ian. The Appeals Coordinator, under direction from the Appeals Lead, will manage the appeals process for applicants and handle direct contact with applicants about their case files. Additionally, the Appeals Coordinator will assist the Appeals Lead with meeting file review goals and deadlines.

 The Appeals Coordinator is responsible for ensuring any services provided to the client are documented in program tracking systems. This is a production-based program, so clearing assigned caseloads through queues is an essential job function and success in the position will be evaluated accordingly.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

Work with a team of reviewers to provide expert appeals management for sheltering and repair programs. Specific duties may include:

• Communicate with applicants filing their appeals.
• Handle a daily workload of appeals review.
• Meet production goals for the appeals unit.
• Meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
• Participate in training as necessary to improve appeals unit workflow and production.
• Collect, compile, report and maintain necessary data in program tracking systems for statistics and reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 Required Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Previous experience on a federally funded program a plus.

• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Required Education and Experience:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in social services or other relevant field; OR,
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in case management, financial management, accounting, application processing, grant-funded government programs, or other relevant field
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Experience in case management portals a plus
