- Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal operation.
- Troubleshoot system problems, including hardware, software, and network-related issues, with a focus on maintaining uptime and reliability.
- Maintain storage systems, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Interface with external teams for hardware, network, and infrastructure support, fostering collaboration and timely resolution of issues.
- Provide after-hours on-call/call-in support as needed to address critical system issues and emergencies.
- Ensure system security requirements are satisfied, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data and infrastructure.
- Participate in engineering discussions to contribute insights and recommendations for system enhancements and optimizations.
- Create and maintain system scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline system administration processes.
- Patch and upgrade system software regularly to address security vulnerabilities and improve functionality.
- Administer user accounts, manage access permissions and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Maintain hardware inventory, tracking assets and coordinating procurement as needed.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Alternatively, five (5) years of additional Systems Administrator experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Extensive experience working with large Hadoop and Accumulo based clusters.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively with hardware, software, security, and network teams.
- Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and task management.
- Strong command of Python programming language for system administration tasks and automation.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet for maintaining system consistency and scalability.
