General Responsibilities: This position reports to the Project Manager for Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training-RI, and is responsible for the planning, coordination, development, vision, and focus of the Crisis Intervention Team RI program. This position acts as the link amongst behavioral health providers, consumers, advocates, CIT International, and law enforcement within northern RI (Burrillville, North Smithfield, Woonsocket, Cumberland, Lincoln, Pawtucket, and Central Falls). Ability to lift up to 35 lbs (for event stand-up and breakdown).Work Schedule Demands: Full-time work schedule, flexible hours. Some evening or weekend hours may be required as needed. Significant Job Functions:Work to enhance and expand Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) in police departments in Northern RI.Establish a network and link the police and the community in focusing on common goal of safety and create understanding and service to individuals experiencing mental illness/substance abuse and their families.Responsible for the formation, management, and coordination of regional CIT Steering committee meetings.Coordinate and conduct CIT Training for all levels of Law Enforcement including but not limited to:Basic CITCIT-TelecommunicationsAdvanced CITIn-Service, Conferences, and refresher classesCIT Coordinators CourseActs as a liaison between Thundermist, CIT-RI team, NAMI-RI, area mental health providers, family members, consumer’s, law enforcement and the National and State CIT CoalitionsWelcome new leaders and demonstrate community support of CITEducate community members about proactive crisis planningAttend the CIT International Conference annually (typically held in mid-late August), and other conferences as needed.
