Position Overview
Aggressive manufacturer of automotive and commercial products is seeking experienced First Piece Inspector. Minimum of three years’ experience. Responsibilities include first piece inspection and gage calibration. Candidate must possess strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills, expertise in the use of various inspection tools, and good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Calibration Software). CMM experience a plus. This a first shift position.

Key Position Responsibilities
  • Works directly in QA inspection and testing to ensure that establishment and regulatory standards are met.
  • First Article inspection using standard gages and record inspection results in accordance with established procedures.
  • Records inspection results by completing reports.
  • Interface with customer source inspectors and coordinate product acceptance when necessary.
  • Monitoring the use of measuring equipment to ensure it is safe and accurate, discard any that do not meet requirements.
  • Read prints, drawings, sketches, specifications, packing sheets and other written and verbal instructions.
  • Perform other duties as needed such as gage calibrations.
Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of all types of tooling and gauges
  • Should be capable of reading micrometers, telescoping gauges, calipers, comparator, indicators, etc.
  • Be able to operate manual equipment
  • Good problem solving skills, safety practices and attention to quality.
  • Computer literate with experience in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Minimal amount of machining knowledge
  • Math skills
  • GD&T knowledge
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
Education and Training
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds
  • Frequently required standing, bending, squatting and reaching with hands and arms
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, talk and hear
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Ability to read applicable instructions
