Thriving Utah is Hiring a Remote Torrey House Press Programs & Partnerships Coordinator

Position Information

The AmeriCorps member in this role will serve with Torrey House Press in Salt Lake City, Utah. This member will work as the Community Coordinator or Program Coordinator to build capacity around community relationships and event planning. This will include cultivating relationships with partners and growing the Torrey House Press community both in person and online. If you have a desire to give back to your community, expand your skill set, and become part of a nationally recognized program, this role is for you!

Service Term and Benefits

This is an AmeriCorps position. AmeriCorps is a unique service opportunity. AmeriCorps members complete a term of service from February, 2023 through January 2024. Members will serve a minimum of 900 hours during this time, approximately 19 hours per week. AmeriCorps members will receive a living allowance of $10,500 during their term of service. This living allowance will be paid bi-weekly. Additionally, upon successful completion of a term of service, AmeriCorps members will receive an education award of $3,247.

About the Organizations

Torrey House Press publishes books at the intersection of the literary arts and environmental advocacy. THP authors explore the diversity of human experiences and relationships with place. THP books create conversations about issues that concern the American West, landscape, literature, and the future of our ever-changing planet, inspiring action toward a more just world.

Thriving Utah is an AmeriCorps State program designed to support local nonprofits and public agencies in increasing their organizational capacity. Thriving Utah AmeriCorps members create and execute a capacity building plan tailored to their organization’s needs, services, and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Research and outreach to potential partners
  • Attend, participate in, and represent THP at external events, convenings, and conferences
  • Cultivate relationships with appropriate points of contact and, along with other THP staff, manage stewardship for these relationships
  • Create a system to track/manage relationships with partners, bookstores, and potential THP writers
  • Conduct a needs assessment to understand how THP can best help other organizations advance their mission/achieve their goals
  • Collect insights from the THP community (via surveys, focus groups, etc.) to learn more about what they hope to see from Torrey House Press and how they might choose to become more involved in our work
  • Assist with and/or lead planning and execution of public events, particularly those involving external partner organizations/individuals
  • Identify, pilot, and iterate new/effective ways to collaborate with strategic partners and attract/grow/engage audiences and communities
  • Establish metrics to track partnerships, community engagement, and impact
  • As a team, articulate strategic priorities and identify key audiences and partnerships (individual or by category) to achieve shared objectives
  • Design and begin to implement programs to activate these relationships with specific success metrics and desired outcomes (e.g. library outreach strategy; Native/Indigenous outreach and engagement programs; event-based relationship management with booksellers; etc.)

Qualifications

  • 18 or older
  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • Willing to undergo a background check
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience planning and working on events
  • Ability to work well with a broad range of community members
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships
  • Ability to research and develop data
  • Lead and execute projects
