Part-time or Full-time Opportunity

Elkhorn, WI

As a Barn Assistant, you are responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the boarding barn & veterinary clinic.

About us:

Duties include:

• Observing boarding horses for any abnormalities
• Bring horses in from pastures & turn out
• Feeding and watering boarding horses
• Removing soiled bedding from stalls and adding shavings
• Keeping all boarding areas swept and free of cobwebs
• Restocking of cleaning supplies, feed & hay
• Daily laundry duties
• Daily clinic cleaning duties include dusting, cleaning sinks & bathrooms, vacuuming & mopping floors and garbage removal
• Cleaning outside paddocks and waterers as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

• • Basic knowledge of general sanitation principles.
  • Equine and large animal handling experience is mandatory.
  • Willing to learn new skills and work as directed with some supervision.
  • Often requires lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Capable of walking and/or standing for long periods.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement conditions including but not limited to excessive heat/cold temperatures, raining and icy weather conditions 
  • Ability to physically stoop or bend 
  • May be required to use strength and/or agility in walking and restraining stronger, more active animals.

**Preferred availability-Monday-Thursday (5 hours each day) Fridays 7:30-12:30 & 4-5 pm and one weekend a month
