Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a dynamic and experienced Hospital Floor Manager to oversee the smooth operation of our emergency and specialty veterinary hospital floor. The ideal candidate will be a skilled leader with a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent organizational abilities, and a passion for providing outstanding patient care. The hospital floor manager will report to the Practice Manager and will work closely with our Medical Director, Client Experience Manager, and other hospital leadership.

We are a state-of-the-art facility at the base of the Sandia Mountains that provides emergency and specialty care for sick and injured pets by skilled doctors.

Responsibilities:
Direct oversight and management of the technician and assistant team (ER, surgery, and neurology)
Team Leadership:
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff on the hospital floor.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, policies, and updates, and address any concerns or issues.
  • Coordinate schedules and training for all technicians and assistants.
  • Work closely with DVMs and Management to identify areas of improvement, training needs, and performance goals for hospital support staff.
Patient Care Coordination:
  • Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers between departments to ensure efficient flow and timely care delivery.
  • Oversee triage procedures, ensuring that patients are assessed promptly and prioritized based on the severity of their condition.
  • Monitor patient status and treatment plans, collaborating with veterinary staff to ensure optimal care and adherence to protocols.
Facility Management:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment on the hospital floor, adhering to sanitation standards and infection control protocols.
  • Monitor inventory levels of medical supplies and equipment, facilitating restocking as needed to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Address any facility maintenance issues promptly, coordinating with relevant departments or external vendors as necessary.
Client Communication:
  • Interact with clients to provide updates on patient status, explain treatment plans, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Ensure that client communications are handled with empathy, professionalism, and clear communication of expectations and financial obligations.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce hospital policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, conducting audits and evaluations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Credentialed technician (RVT,CVT,LVT) highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a veterinary hospital setting, emergency and/or specialty highly preferred.
  • Must have leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and staff.
  • Proven organizational abilities with the capacity to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in veterinary practice management software and Microsoft Office suite.
