Three Rivers is Hiring a Project Manager Near Wyandotte, MI

Primary Function: Leads and is responsible for all aspects of construction projects during design, pre-construction, construction and closeout phases utilizing any of Three Rivers Corporation’s project delivery systems of Construction Management and General Contracting. This position is accountable for all phases of a project including proposal, estimate, design for design build projects, safety, profitable execution of construction, and client satisfaction.

  • Lead, collaborate, and manage all aspects of projects during design, pre-construction, construction and closeout phases
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications
  • Collaborate with Three Rivers’ architects during design phase to ensure project goals, budgets, and schedule are being maintained.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, track and manage costs against budgets, and minimize financial risks
  • Work with Sub-Contract Administrator to prepare subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Work with Project team to create a project schedule. Coordinate and monitor the progress of all activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all project participants. Create schedule recovery plans as required.
  • Coordinate with the site supervision team to ensure that quality, schedule and cost controls are being implemented while maintaining strict adherence to all MIOSHA, Three Rivers’, and customer safety requirements
  • Confer with supervisors and foremen to discuss and resolve such matters as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems
  • Effectively communicate with project team, field staff, contractors, designers, owner representatives, and TRC management. Includes preparation of monthly reports, progress reports, project schedules, etc.
  • Periodic inspection of construction sites
  • Ensure projects meet the required deliverables of quality, timely completion, on budget, and to the owner’s satisfaction, safely.
  • Build, promote and maintain a positive relationships with TRC customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims and develop risk management plans to avoid disputes
  • Management of project controls and project information with accounting
  • Provide project status reporting including project milestones, financial performance, procurement, risks, and issues
  • Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures
  • Proactively resolve project related disputes, including negotiation, arbitration, or litigation as needed
  • Attend face-to-face meetings for project progress meetings, design meetings, owner meetings, interdepartmental meetings, and other meetings as required
  • Participate in company safety programs including job site audits, training programs, and committees
  • Contribute to process improvement activities to expand and support these capabilities for the organization.
  • Continue professional development
  • Consistent on-site attendance is a requirement of the job. Work from the main office. Requires some travel within the State of Michigan; remote field assignments are not anticipated.

Qualifications:
  • Understanding of construction industry practices/standards, operations, contract management, project controls & accounting
  • Knowledge of construction administration, management, materials, methods, and tools
  • Knowledge of construction project safety practices, rules and regulations
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to raise issues proactively and in a timely manner

  • Competency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Microsoft Project or Primavera and ability to learn other software as needed

Education and/or Experience:
BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline preferred
3 years of experience in the construction industry at a level that required extensive project management work
Experience with Construction Management, and General Contracting project delivery systems
Language Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings and construction documents.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquires or complaints.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations and graphs).
Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Work Environment:
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions construction job sites.
  • When working on construction sites, will be required to wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, or hard hats. On site activities may include, but is not limited to, significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces and, in general, is overall physically demanding
  • The noise level in the office is quiet and at job sites it is usually loud
  • Reports to the Main Office. Requires frequent visits to Construction sites. Requires some travel within the state of Michigan, but remote field assignments are not anticipated.
  • Ability to work alone at times in a small, quiet office
Physical Demands:
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
