Case Manager I

Primary Responsibility:

The primary function of a Case Manager is to help applicants and clients (Youth, Adults, and Dislocated Workers) access needed services and programs through case management and other coordinating activities, to ensure employment goals are met. To provide career counseling, assessments, and other related assistance to clients. The Case Manager(s) reports to the Program Services Manager.

Summary of Duties:

  • Provide career and related counseling to Youth, Adults, and Dislocated Workers including: education on job search skills, resume development, interviewing skills, job readiness training, and networking resources; administration, scoring, and interpretation of career testing.
  • Use Labor Market Information and In-demand occupation list to ensure clients are receiving appropriate training.
  • Assist Business Services team in administration and personnel recruitment for On the Job Training, Customized Training programs, Work Experience, Apprenticeship programs, and employer led requests to fill open positions.
  • Perform and/or assist with Orientation and Intake.
  • Design and implement an individual service strategy or plan with each participant.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of social media and how to educate clients on best and emerging business practices.
  • Maintain client file data in client management databases and facilitate referrals of clients to other agency services as appropriate.
  • Promote existing agency services by bringing in clients through networking in assigned county. Networking may include, but is not limited to participation with local job networking groups, local collaborative groups, and other civic or employment related groups.
  • Attend internal and approved external training sessions, conferences, professional development workshops, etc. to maintain current knowledge in the field.
  • Ensure that clients attain employment goal and fulfill service plan, and meets performance measures and registration goals set by Program Services Manager.
  • Assist with Rapid Response activities as needed.
  • Counsels Dislocated Workers during plant closings or workforce reductions.
  • Monitor and track client’s progress and services received.
  • Travel throughout assigned area for training and employment purposes.
  • Review service plan and performs follow-up to determine quantity and quality of services provided to client and status of case.
  • Coordinate placement activities with partner agencies.
  • Represents the agency, its programs and staff in positive manner.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Supervisor.
  • Be able to support the design, development, and implementation of new instructional programs.
  • Facilitate job readiness workshops to assist participants with soft skills required for employment opportunities.
  • Analyze employment/education barrier identified by participant & provide supportive services to

address barriers.

  • Assist participants with career exploration through the use of career pathways models & the use

of career lattices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program preferably in vocational counseling, social work, or psychology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a vehicle for required travel and a valid driver’s license.
  • Previous experience in workforce development, occupational skills training, case management, career counseling or related field.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, and/or Excel. Strong communication skills and ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be highly motivated and people oriented.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Other Requirements:

Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate liability insurance with no business exclusion. Must be willing and able to drive throughout a multi-county service area. Some overnight travel required. Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. and be able to pass a drug screen and background check upon hire. The preferred candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and/or overtime, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of WIA/WIOA, GeoSolutions
