RN Coordinators work as the head of the Interdisciplinary Group and with the Medical Director. RN Coordinators report to the administrator. Coordinators supervise all nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, volunteer coordinators and bereavement coordinators. This is considered a management position and experience is important.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under Clinical Supervisor’s direction to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of quality nursing care to clients. Contributes to nursing and the agency through support of philosophy, objectives, educational efforts and goals of the Hospice program.

Management of Nursing Personnel

• Assist with effective utilization of staff. Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives.
• Provides for professional growth and development of nursing staff through identification of needs and encouraging educational efforts.
• Responsible for seeing all information on chart, care plan, medication, and treatment sheets are updated and correct.
• Serves as a clinical resource person and assists nursing personnel in assessing client/family status to plan nursing care
• Communicates with the family and health professionals regarding care of clients; participates in client case conferences
• Participates in agency evaluations and clinical record reviews
• Participates in Hospice orientation and in-service training programs for professional staff
• Participate in agency and community programs as requested to promote professional growth and understanding of the Hospice philosophy
• Act on Behalf of Administrator during temporary absences and/or vacancies
• Demonstrate familiarity with policies of the Hospice program and rules and regulations of state and federal bodies concerning the Hospice
• Current knowledge of Federal and State rules and accrediting body standards regulating Hospice care
• The ability to work comfortably and in a caring manner with supervision of staff and clients
• Clinical nursing management of terminally ill clients to include palliative care and treatment and pain control
• Knowledge of and commitment to Hospice philosophy of palliative care, pain control, and comfort measures rather than cure or rehabilitation
