LSW OR LPC (OR ELIGIBLE FOR TEST) CLINICIAN- ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES AT THORNTON HEIGHTS TERRACE, a Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility serving 210 ambulatory adults, is now "on a mission" to further our efforts in serving this very special group of residents. We are seeking that rare supervisor who can provide "hands on" skill and direction to meet the multitude of psychosocial issues which present themselves to those who are living with mental illness.
As you might expect, our residents exhibit varying levels of cognitive and functional abilities. We have never subscribed to the "one size fits all" approach and, as a result, our programmatic services are designed to meet individual need. The person we are looking for is clearly a manager who assumes primary responsibility for insuring the completion, accuracy and timeliness of requisite assessments, as well as coordinating the performance of Interdisciplinary Teams as they go about developing and implementing Treatment Plans. You will assume supervisory leadership for both B.A. and Masters level Case Managers, as well as work with Administration to provide sound clinical guidance to all staff. You yourself will become involved with helping to develop and/or redesign activity and psychosocial group offerings, as well as providing counseling and Recovery services. Your maintenance of relationships with community providers will serve to insure a smooth transition for those discharged to more independent living arrangements. Staff training, documentation, and being on rotating "call" will, of course, fall within your domain.
While the facility does not care for those with medically complex conditions, your ongoing dialog with nursing staff insures that we provide an holistic approach to both the medical and mental health concerns of our residents. In similar manner, your direction and interface with all staff members will aid in focusing not only upon need, but upon those strengths leading to greater independence and community transition.
Requirements: Applicants must hold (or be eligible for) current Illinois license/certification as a Licensed Social Worker or Professional Counselor. Experience in working with the mentally ill and demonstrated supervisory experience is also essential.
