PACKAGING OPERATOR I- 1st shift

As a Thorne Packaging Operator, you will be joining a team of more than 650 passionate individuals committed to our cause of providing superior health solutions. 

1st Shift 7:00am-3:30pm. Must be available to work Monday - Saturday plus overtime as required to meet production needs.

A day in the life of a Packaging Operator at Thorne requires:

  • Becoming knowledgeable of the applicable provisions of the Production Department’s Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Remaining knowledgeable on an ongoing and timely basis as changes in the SOPs and GMPs occur.
  • Committing to the Packaging Credentialed Training program where the proper operating knowledge, skills and experience are acquired to meet the high quality of proficiency.
  • Quickly setting up all phases of the bottling/labeling equipment for smooth operation and maximum output. Ensuring all parts are secured prior to run. 
  • Immediately notifying lead/supervisor of any machine problems or anomalies outside of normal operations that effect output and the well-being of the equipment or the quality of the product.
  • Having sufficient knowledge of the bottling and labeling equipment being operated to make adjustments, without supervision, within guidelines outlined in the applicable SOP and current Credentialed Training program level.
  • Verifying batch record and product descriptions are correct. Verifying that set ups are correct (capsule count, bottle fill weights, bottle size, lid, label details, etc.)

*This is a non-exempt (hourly) position.

What You Need:

  • Experience and/or Education: High school diploma is required. Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to move or lift items weighing up to 55 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor, often repetitively.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work an entire 8-, 10-, or 12- hour shift, when necessary, in an enclosed room
  • Must be medically qualified to work while using a half-mask respirator or a full-air respirator for up to six hours at a
    time and be able to follow Thorne Research’s Respiratory Protection Program guidelines.
  • Must be able to work in a stationary position as well as move about unassisted.
  • Must be able to safely and carefully operate and use assigned production equipment and machinery.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as circumstances arise during the course of a shift as well as climb a
    ladder unassisted.
  • Must be able to operate, activate, use, prepare, and clean production equipment, occasionally grasping with force and
    using twisting wrist movements, as well as climb a ladder unassisted.
  • Must have sufficient range of motion with arms and hands to reach overhead and to the side, often repetitively, during
    an 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shift.
  • Must be able to hear and converse with supervisors and other employees.
  • Must be able to see and read small print.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder while carrying up to 20 pounds of material.
  • Must be able to print in a legible manner.
  • Must be able to work in a moderate noise level environment.
  • Must be able to work an 8-, 10-, or 12-hourshift and overtime as assigned.
  • Must be able to move or lift items weighing up to 55 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor, often repetitively, during an 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shift
