Thompson Houston is Hiring a Remote AREA DIRECTOR OF REVENUE MANAGEMENT

This luxury oasis boasts 172 luxury guestrooms, including 34 breathtaking suites, and a private collection of 100 residences. Unmatched amenities include a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, several destination restaurants, a private heliport, an expansive one-acre pool deck, and over 17,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event spaces.

Located in the trendsetting arts district, Thompson San Antonio captures the contemporary spirit of this historic Texas city and offers an evocative experience rooted in the timeless now. Our luxury boutique hotel is located at the banks of the San Antonio River, soaring 20 stories above the city's celebrated River Walk. Glittering panoramic views are a hallmark of the 162 guest rooms, 32 suites, and 59 condominiums that feature striking contemporary furnishings, spa-inspired bathrooms and floor to ceiling views of the San Antonio skyline. Amenities include a full-service spa, urban oasis pool deck, award winning roof top bar and signature restaurant, and 5000 square feet of unique meeting space with riverside vistas.

Position Overview:

As the Area Director of Revenue Strategy for Thompson Houston San Antonio, you will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth and market share by leading comprehensive pricing and inventory optimization strategies. You will analyze hotel performance, evaluate pricing effectiveness, identify revenue opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance revenue generation. Additionally, you will monitor demand trends, booking patterns, pace, and market conditions to ensure strategic decisions align with market dynamics. This position reports to the Managing Director of Thompson Houston San Antonio and the General Manager of Thompson San Antonio. This position has 1 direct report, the Area Manager of Revenue and Reservations for Thompson Houston & San Antonio. This position is based in Texas OR Hybrid remote with open travel availability.

Summary of responsibilities

1. Develop and implement pricing strategies: Analyze and measure pricing strategies to ensure consistency and alignment with company pricing philosophy. Formulate strategic plans for both hotels and communicate actions effectively to achieve revenue objectives. Utilize available systems to implement, manage, and control accurate selling strategies across all channels and segments.

2. Optimize inventory management: Proactively manage inventory for rooms, function space and recreation (Cabanas). Assess the impact of inventory factors on performance and implement corrective measures as needed. Manage promotions, restrictions, and policies to optimize revenue across all areas.

3. Forecasting and analysis: Accurately prepare monthly and weekly forecasts for all transient segments and groups based on feedback from sales and event services. Provide data analysis to evaluate business segments, accounts, market mix, room type demand, and channel production to identify trends and patterns for strategic decision-making.

4. Market intelligence and strategic planning: Research market trends, monitor competitor activities, and understand customer preferences to inform pricing, inventory, and selling strategies. Contribute to the development of transient and group budgets and marketing plans. Collaborate with the sales department to define booking terms, conditions, and allotments for transient and group segments.

5. Performance evaluation: Evaluate weekly and monthly market share reports to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning. Ensure targeted relative revenue per available room (RevPAR) positioning is achieved. Work closely with the marketing team to drive digital marketing initiatives and optimize direct e-commerce channels.

6. Strategic action planning: Assist in developing strategic action plans for transient revenue management over 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month periods. Define space release policies and catering minimums in collaboration with group sales and catering teams. Communicate selling strategies effectively to sales and marketing colleagues.

7. Collaboration with Sales Team: Work closely with the sales team to develop collaborative strategies that align with revenue goals and market demand. Provide guidance on pricing, inventory management, and promotional strategies to maximize revenue potential from both transient and group bookings. Collaborate on the development of sales initiatives and promotions to stimulate demand and drive revenue growth.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in revenue management field within the hospitality industry, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and optimizing profitability.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations based on findings.
  • Proficiency in revenue management systems (RMS), property management systems (PMS), and distribution channels. Hyatt systems experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent understanding of market dynamics, competitor activities, and customer preferences in the hospitality industry. Strong understanding of Texas business cycles and demand drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement pricing strategies, inventory management tactics, and promotional campaigns to maximize revenue potential.
  • Proven experience in forecasting revenue, preparing accurate forecasts, and evaluating performance against set targets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and operations.
