JOB PURPOSE

This position supports Thompson’s mission by assisting with supervision and management of EVS personnel in a 24 hour University environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Designate shift and area work assignments for custodians and Group Leaders.
Deploy staff to assigned areas; ensuring custodians are prepared for work.
Assigns relief custodians to fill in for absentee workers.
Develops project schedules.
Maintains adequate supply inventory. Re-orders supplies and equipment through the proper channels when necessary.
Conduct quarterly Supply Inventory.
Ensures equipment is properly used and maintained.
Conduct customer surveys to ensure customer’s needs are met.
Conducts daily documented inspections with supervisors, employees and customers, and takes immediate corrective action as warranted.
Immediately reports safety concerns and takes corrective action.
Frequently evaluates the performance of all Supervisors, Lead Custodians and the custodial personnel as assigned under their jurisdiction.
Surveys all assigned areas on a daily basis to ensure the highest level of custodial service.
Inspects each employee’s work to assure high quality and productivity standards are met.
Takes immediate action to correct, train and coach employees as warranted by unsatisfactory performance.
Recognizes outstanding performance and reports this to Director.
Conducts classroom type and on-the job training for all custodial personnel.
Supervises special assignments and requests as stipulated by the Executive Director and/or other authorized administrators
Instructs Supervisors or other personnel to perform duties necessary to maintain assigned area in a clean, pleasant sanitary condition
Checks with Executive Director on all custodial/maintenance concerns to communicate clearly what steps are needed to be taken to address and solve problems or issues
Takes care of all custodial concerns that are not within the operating scope of the Supervisor
Makes certain that the Central Control area is open and ready for the next shift
Addresses and completes written requests and provides Executive Director with a response concerning actions taken.
Responsible for the accuracy for the timesheets of assigned personnel.
Assures that work request sheets are turned in to office at the end of each shift.
Evaluates and counsels employees about job performance.
Maintains all pertinent records, reports, and other paperwork as needed.
Demonstrate Thompson’s core principles of “Do the Right Thing”, “Do the Best You Can Do”, and “Treat Others the Way You Would Like to be Treated.”
Any other duties needed to do the right thing, help fulfill our mission, support our client, while consistent with policies and guidelines

EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to travel to and from various buildings on campus grounds using standard forms of transportation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is physically demanding. Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift, pull, push, climb ladders, twist, and walk for a minimum of three hours on the campus terrain. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. using safe lifting techniques. Regular exposure to blue light from computer screens.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates on a university campus with exposure to waste, hazardous materials, wide-ranging outdoor weather conditions, stairs, sidewalks, etc. Work is performed during days, evenings, and nights inside of various campus buildings where lighting and ventilation may be inadequate. Work is also performed on campus grounds and parking lots. The EVS Assistant Director is expected to be directly exposed to electronic lights at close range for extended periods of time.
