Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health is Hiring a Financial Coordinator - Transplant Services Near Philadelphia, PA

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University. The Transplant Financial Coordinator works with patients and their families compassionately and tactfully, prior to, during and following transplant to allow for the continuity of care. The transplant financial coordinator is responsible for being up to date on all Medicare cost reporting rules and regulations. The transplant financial coordinator conducts transplant financial evaluations with patients being seen by organ transplant program team (liver, kidney, heart, pancreas) to determine transplantation appropriateness. Works with the transplant billing manager and lead transplant financial coordinator to rectify billing and insurance errors. Ensures assigned Epic work queues are appropriately managed and reviewed in a timely manner.To accumulate, investigate and provide accurate, timely patient insurance information to the Hospital billing office(s), Professional billing office(s), insurers, and Transplant offices prior to evaluative process and admission for organ transplant. Interacts/communicates with hospital and professional billing personnel as well as the Transplant Programsrsquo; Clinical Coordinators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
  • To obtain financial clearance information and prior authorizations for all phases of transplantation
  • Educate patients in transplant clinic regarding insurance coverages and work with patients and families on obtaining appropriate primary coverage, secondary coverage, and pharmacy benefits in order to comply with Jefferson policy and ensure patient is fully covered for transplantation
  • Provide additional advice and financial counseling to uninsured and underinsured patients on corrective measures to obtain coverage
  • Assist the lead financial coordinator in financial process for urgent/emergent listings and evaluations
  • Communicate financial findings to transplant team members including social workers, nurse coordinators, physicians, surgeons, administrators, and billing team.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma Required
  • Bachelorrsquo;s degree preferred
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and ability to navigate NaviNet, Epic, and other insurance based platforms, basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Epic experience including extensive in-class training and shadowing, insurance experience including an understanding of state and federal programs, transplant experience in a multi-organ center preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

The Transplant Financial Coordinator is encouraged to become a member of the Transplant Financial Coordinator Association.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of two years health service experience in finance, billing, customer service, reimbursement, or other related area
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communications and writing skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems such as outlook and Microsoft word
