- JOB SUMMARYMay be responsible for the assembly and serving of meals to patients. Required to assists other staff in the set up, preparation, and clean up for patient meal service including but not limited to floor stock and lunch boxes. May function as a direct link between Nutrition Services and the patient.May be responsible for successfully completing financial transactions with the customer and maintaining the balance of the cash drawer at all times May prepare and portion food items (e.g. desserts, salads and beverages); set up food items, condiments and utensils for cafeteria line; serve food; maintain adequate supply of dishes, utensils, glasses, etc. May be required to prepare and cook food to order. May carve meats and fill customer orders on cafeteria line. May fry foods on grill and/or use deep-fat fryer. Performs set-up and cleaning duties of all work areas. Keeps equipment, utensils, counters, refrigerators and storage areas clean and orderly.Duties may also include stocking, dish washing, pot washing, transporting food carts to the nursing floors as well as general cleaning and sanitation.May be required to work in all areas of department including patient food services, dish room, store room or retail.

- At least one year experience in food service or customer service field.

- Must possess good oral communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate with all hospital contacts both on the phone and directly.
- Must have the ability to deal with a wide variety of people taking into consideration different backgrounds and lifestyles.
- Must have the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken and written word.
- Must be able to understand simple recipes and therapeutic diets.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must have the ability to reason with a wide variety if people of different backgrounds and education.
