Job Location: SANDY SPRINGS - Sandy Springs, GA
Salary Range: Undisclosed

Ophthalmic technician

Responsible for performing basic work-up on patients, including manifest refractions, in the Comprehensive Ophthalmology Clinic or Optometry Clinic. Basic work-up to include, but not limited to: visual acuity, intraocular pressure, dilation, confrontation visual fields, and ability to perform cover testing and versions. Works closely and communicates continuously with clinical support team and providers to efficiently move patients through their visit. Use AIDET training consistently to deliver an exceptional patient experience. Ability to assess common safety hazards and take precautions to establish a safe work environment. Must be able to utilize EMR system and work within meaningful guidelines. Greets patients in a warm and friendly manner, explains testing procedure, answers all questions and provides education when necessary.

Qualifications


Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma required, some college or degree preferred; COA or COT preferred

Required Minimum Experience: 1 – 2 years in healthcare environment

A combination of experience, education, and/or training which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Familiar with EMR System
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to multitask, possess organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Conscientious about triage and escalation of issues
  • Excellent typing skills at least 45 wpm with accuracy
  • Empathetic personality and demonstrates concern for patients’ needs
  • Communicate and coordinate with team clinic workflow
  • Work collegially with all team members
  • Knowledge and comprehension of basic medical terminology and anatomy, and the principles of optics, refraction, and contact lenses; demonstrates familiarity with optical equipment
