Thomas Academy is Hiring a Director of Admissions Near Mendota, MN

POSITION
Do you enjoy building relationships and sharing the mission of an organization? Have the skills to develop
and implement detailed and innovative strategies for recruitment and retention? If so, we would love to
have you join the Saint Thomas Academy community as the Director of Admissions. This is a full-time,
non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications. The qualified candidate
will embrace the mission of Saint Thomas Academy.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Admissions will provide strategic leadership in managing all of the Academy’s admission
efforts, including recruitment, onboarding and retention. Working closely with the Admissions and
Marketing teams, the Director will develop and implement data-proven approaches to meet enrollment
goals. Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service ethic are instrumental in the success of
this position.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage all efforts of the Admissions Office in a manner that reflects and communicates a deep
understanding of the mission and distinctive value proposition of Saint Thomas Academy.
  • Develop and implement a strategic enrollment plan to differentiate the Academy’s unique brand, while
enhancing recruitment, retention, revenue generation, and constituent relations.
  • Further develop the Academy’s presence and position by building successful relationships with alumni

families, churches, educational consultants, feeder schools, guidance counselors, community-based
organizations, and coaches in strategic market centers.

  • Maintain ongoing contact with feeder school principals and teachers regarding admission-related
events and procedures including setting up visits to schools during and after school.
  • Utilize data analytics and research to identify enrollment trends, assess admissions efforts, and inform
strategic decisions regarding enrollment goals, including optimal, class size, retention rates, and new
student recruitment.
  • Maintain the enrollment management database and programs used to track prospective students
and applicants.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to meet or exceed enrollment goals across both divisions
by analyzing enrollment and retention data to identify opportunities and changes needed.
  • Drive and execute innovative strategies to manage the enrollment journey from inquiry to decision,
ensuring a clear, ethical, and thoughtful process throughout, with a consistent cadence of positive,
personalized experiences for all, tailored to the needs of each family.
  • Organize and manage the following initiatives and events:
o Catholic Grade School Visits/Presentations – September & October
o Admissions Showcase – October
o Entrance Exam Testing – select Saturdays in January, select weekdays January through July
o “You’re In!” Create and distribute personalized acceptance packets to new students.
o New Student Registration Night – March
o Explore the Middle School – April
o New Student & Parent Socials – May
o Orientation for all new families – August
o ACE (Authentic Cadet Experience) visit program for prospective students
  • Oversees prospective family school visits, tours and other admissions activities and events for both
recruiting and retention.
  • Present information about the school in a compelling way during admissions events.
  • Collaborate with the retention committee to ensure a positive student experience throughout their
academic journey, which contributes to a strong sense of belonging and loyalty to the Academy.
  • Coordinates the staffing of employees, students, and volunteers to meet admissions activities.
  • Prepares the admissions budget and operates the department with budgetary guidelines, including the
budgeting and expenditures with the Business Office.
  • Maintains admissions and enrollment statistics and provides status and achievement reports to
Leadership.
  • Oversees scholarship awards process, communication, reports, implementation and follow up.
  • Serves as school’s representative on the Catholic Schools Consortium, a group of enrollment
professionals from the Twin Cities Catholic High Schools.
  • Serve as a thought partner with the President of the School and Administrative Leadership Team.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the admissions office and assist the team in coordinating the
process for all prospective families, including inquiries, visits, applications, and admissions decisions.
  • Stay abreast of admission and enrollment best practices and regularly participate in professional

development activities.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Five years of experience in a comparable educational, sales or non-profit environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with multiple people.
  • Experience with project management and taking projects from concept to completion.
  • Comfort with public speaking and presenting in front of large groups.
  • Strong customer service ethic and exceptional judgment.
  • Results-oriented and able to effectively prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
  • Extremely detail oriented with a strong attention to follow through.
  • Must be available to work a varied schedule of Sunday-Thursday and Monday-Friday.
  • Must have the ability to travel around Twin Cities community.
  • Customer Relations Management (CRM) software experience.
  • Proficiency in school administration systems, including Finalsite Enrollment Management
  • System (EMS), PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS).
  • Proficient in all Google Workspace applications, with a strong focus on Google Sheets.
  • Knowledge of Catholic community and traditions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Communicate in a professional manner representing Saint Thomas Academy on the phone and in person.
  • Work in a military environment and exposure to unexpected, loud noises during military drills and
performances.
  • Apply manual dexterity for computer keyboarding and office organization.
  • Sit at desk for extended periods, as well as move around office area throughout the day to assist staff,
students and to address office needs.
  • Perform some bending, stretching and reaching related to office machine use.
  • Be able to read computer screens for extended periods of time.
