The Role

Material Handler reviews upcoming production orders and reserves materials. They pick and stage raw materials at the appropriate machine for the machine operator to process. They re-stock remaining materials previously used in production or inbound from the receiving department. Using the system find and process upcoming orders and products being sent for outside processing. Transport goods to the main warehouse for processing. Perform all job functions safely, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all job functions.

What You Will Do

• Use the system to locate customer orders, internal work orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or package in to boxes or containers and deliver to a holding area or shipping department outbound staging area.
• Gather materials for production and stage at the appropriate machines staging area.
• Re-stock unused materials to a proper inventory location both physically and in the system.
• Count or measure materials for inventory accuracy and create proper documentation.
• Assist in the unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to inbound product while reviewing and documenting any damages to the shipment.
• Move materials and items from receiving staging or storage areas to the final storage location or to other designated areas.
• Ensure production area is accessible and safe for other employees, salespeople and visitor traffic.
• Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
• Assist in counting of physical inventory.
• Sweep, dust and mop. Organize production and work area for orderliness at all times.
• Report any non-conformances.
• Wear the proper safety equipment at all times and report any safety misses, near misses or incidents immediately.
• May be assigned other duties as needed.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• May have to stand for long periods of time.

Knowledge and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent with knowledge of basic warehousing.
• Experience operating forklift.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Ax 2012) preferred or ERP equivalent.
• Familiar with Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel and Word).
