Location/Division Specific Information
Are you passionate about advancing genetic science? Want to drive and run multi-million-dollar instrument systems? In this role, you will lead low-throughput Capillary Electrophoresis Instruments that are used across the globe from forensics to clinical and biopharmaceutical development. You will own all product management responsibilities for the portfolio, such as product definition, positioning, pricing and product lifecycle management. This position reports to the Product Management Leader of CE Instruments and sits within the Genetic Sciences Division team at Thermo Fisher. The ideal candidate would be located in Pleasanton, CA.
How will you make an impact?
Lead revenue, margin and pricing for on-market CE instrument product lines; Update and present forecasts regularly to management, finance, and manufacturing teams. Analyze market trends, customer requirements and competitive strategy, and find opportunities for growing customer and business value through product differentiation. Lead new product development process from concept through commercialization, including VOC research, definition of market opportunity, customer, product requirements and value proposition, formulating Go-to-Market strategy including commercialization strategy, public presentations, competitive analysis, positioning, and training service, support and sales teams.
A Day in the Life
Collaborate with partners to define and implement growth strategy for the product line
Lead product definition teams for NPIs, defining critical product requirement documents with prioritized features and corresponding business or financial justification
Lead total product lifecycle, setting cadence for retirement, refresh or improvement of existing products
Understand, follow and be accountable for business aspects of Product Commercialization Process (PCP) for products
Assess and evaluate competitive landscape – including product offerings
Monetize products through direct and indirect economic business models
Market analysis, value propositions and forecasting for new products
Partner with Marketing to define global launch plans that include regulatory strategy, competitive analysis, forecasting, pricing, positioning and training of internal groups
Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
Develop customer oriented sales tools and collateral in partnership with market development
Develop a detailed knowledge of target customer segments, markets and the competition

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of product management experience in life sciences industry is required
Ability to synthesize and integrate customer insights, draw conclusions/implications, and translate information into product requirements, portfolio strategies, and business recommendations
Is customer-centric and keenly aware of markets, trends and competitors
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret and summarize results in a clear, concise and accurate manner

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $123,800.00–$170,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
