We have a new opening for an Associate Counsel Contracts position that supports a PPD business unit(s) and provides legal advice and support in the drafting, review and negotiation of agreements. You will serve as the primary contact, within the department and with internal and external customers, for agreements assigned to your group(s).

This role ensures that PPD's best interests are protected at all times and that senior and executive management have the legal information necessary to make informed decisions and grant approvals for business risks.

  • With oversight, provides legal advice and represents PPD in legal matters.
  • Prepares, negotiates and finalizes agreements and/or other related documentation.
  • Assesses legal risks and provides recommendations and alternative mitigating resolutions to departmental management.
  • Provides training to other functional groups within PPD on contract requirements and other legal matters.
  • Helps develop processes and training for legal team.
  • Assists with customer disputes as requested.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Juris doctorate or equivalent educational model in other jurisdictions
  • Previous legal experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2 years’ experience)
  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and social skills
  • Solid organizational skills and strong attention to detail with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Must be flexible and able to reprioritize workload to meet changing project needs
  • Comprehensive MS Excel and MS Word skills
  • Excellent English and grammar skills
  • Excellent analytical and decision based thinking
  • Capable of drafting and negotiating routine contract provisions autonomously and complex contract provisions, with oversight
  • Must be able to identify risk and evaluate fact patterns to advise on the application of the law (may require some oversight)
  • Ability to identify legal risks and develop strategic and tactical ways to minimize such risks

The salary range estimated for this position is $80,000 - $100,000. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
