Theater Outsource is Hiring an Exhibit AutoCAD Drafter Near Boston, MA

Responsibilities
Creative engineer that can design both visually impactful items but can take drawings all the way to fabrication.
This role would be for both pre-sales concept creation and then post order full schematic support. They would need to provide a creative solution to customers' problems while being able to execute the design.
Prepare project drawings, exercising discretion as required.
Vectorworks for BIM models but design phase of a project can be Rhino, Solidworks, CAD, or Sketchup
Work with the team to participate in the translation of designer specifications into the required drawings for any given project, including overview, construction, installation and shipping drawings.
On every project, ensure that technical design standards are satisfied.
Select or actively participate in the selection of construction techniques and material choices for assigned projects.
Perform site surveys when necessary to ensure that accurate venue data is available for use in a project’s drawing package.
Needs to be able to work with Engineering firms, Architectural Designers, and Fabricators
Communicate progress on assignments so that any issues with meeting scheduled deadlines can be addressed before there is an issue.
Prepare and execute CNC or Water Jet cut files when necessary.
Generate and update Bill of Materials.
Provide technical support to shop floor as well as clients.
Update and revise drawings to accurately reflect the finished product based on modifications made during fabrication.
Attend company meetings, including, but not limited to project kickoff meetings, production meetings and post-mortem.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in related field (e.g., Technical Theater, Theater Design, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Vectorworks.
  • Excellent drawing and design skills.
  • Thorough, up-to-date knowledge of set construction techniques and materials.
  • Exposure to solid modeling software such as Revit, Inventor or Rhino is a plus.
  • Leadership skills a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
