The Young Men's Christian Association of Boise... is Hiring an AAU Basketball Camp Staff - Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA Near Meridian, ID

The South Meridian Branch of the Treasure Valley YMCA is unlike any other in the country. Our 60,000-square-foot facility is part of a unique collaboration that combines family recreation, education, sports, literacy, and wellness care on a single campus called “The Hill.” Hand in hand with our partners—St. Luke’s Health System, the West Ada School District, and the City of Meridian—the South Meridian Family Y will help us build A BETTER US.

The AAU Basketball Camp Staff is responsible for providing leadership and influence in indoor and/or outdoor sports environments while creating a safe, friendly, and nurturing atmosphere for participants.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff, and volunteers at assigned program areas.
  • Provide leadership through organizing, supervising, and facilitating participants in AAU Basketball League.
  • Communicate sport-specific and YMCA rules and regulations to participants, parents, and volunteers.
  • Provide program volunteers with on-going support.
  • Ensure program facility and equipment is ready for use and deemed safe.
  • Responsible for following established procedures to ensure positive relationships with program partners.
  • Promote inclusiveness and community amongst participants and other staff members.
  • Stay informed of youth program offerings and cross promote when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • General understanding of basketball sports structure, rules, and regulations.
  • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.

Schedule:

This is a part- time position averaging 25 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are 9:00am-1:00pm Monday through Friday.
