The Wooten Company’s Columbia, SC headquarters is seeking a team-focused, innovative CAD Designer with strong technical experience to join our Site Civil Department.

Who are you?

As the ideal candidate, you will be confident in your skills with AutoCAD / Civil 3D and comfortable working on numerous and varying projects simultaneously. You enjoy the satisfaction of meeting challenges head on and supporting your team to meet the goals of our clients. You will be able to work relatively independently, communicate well with your colleagues, are open to new ideas.

What will you be doing?

Candidates can expect to work on innovative projects in support of engineers, project managers, and other designers with site layout, utilities, site grading, erosion and sediment control, and storm drainage design. You will be developing designs for each stage of a project, from preliminary layouts through to final construction drawings based on engineering notes, sketches, and / or other drawings. The person in this role can make a significant impact in their local community by supporting our clients as they carry out their mission.

Where will you be working?

This position would be located in the Columbia, SC office. Conveniently nestled in downtown, the local area is filled with restaurants and nightlife, unique shops, art galleries and studios, and convenient apartment and condominium living. The Wooten Company also has 5 other offices located in Raleigh, Wilmington, Winston-Salem, Greenville, and Hickory, NC.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Operates AutoCAD / Civil 3D system with a high level of proficiency and working knowledge of drafting principals.
• Ability to prepare complex drawings and revise drawings under minimal supervision.
• Ability to contribute to the creation, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures documentation for Civil 3D.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and conform with QA / QC procedures during performance and completion of design documents.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associates degree from an accredited technical institute or university with emphasis on Civil Engineering.
• Excellent skills and proficiency in CAD Design using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience at an consulting firm, with a Site Development focus.
• Experience with residential subdivision, commercial, and water / sewer projects.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience using Autodesk Civil 3D.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to multi-task, meeting deadlines while performing under pressure.
• Possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
