The Wooten Company’s Winston Salem, NC regional office is seeking a CAD Designer with strong technical experience to join our Civil Engineering Services department.

Who are you?

The ideal candidate is comfortable working on numerous and varying projects simultaneously and enjoys the satisfaction of meeting expectations and deadlines in support of their team and in an effort to meet the goals of the clients. You will be able to work relatively independently and communicate well with your colleagues and are open to new ideas and confident in your skills with Microstation and Autodesk Civil 3D.

What will you be doing?

Candidates can expect to work on innovative projects in support of engineers, project managers, and other designers with municipal water / wastewater utility and treatment infrastructure, as well as storm water conveyance and other utility projects. You’ll be developing designs for each stage of a project, from preliminary layouts through to final construction drawings based on engineering notes, sketches, and / or other drawings. The person in this role can make a significant impact in their local community by supporting our clients as they carry out their mission.

Who will you be working with?

The CAD Designer will be working as a part of the Eastern Division of Wooten, supporting work generated in both Wilmington and Greenville, NC. The clients we serve will mostly include local governments / municipalities and public works stakeholders.

Where will you be working?

 This position is in our Winston-Salem, NC office affectionately known as the City of Arts and Innovation. Winston-Salem is one of the three cities of the North Carolina Piedmont Triad with Greensboro and High Point completing the trio. The City is home to a unique and thriving downtown along with the historic Old Salem. Our office is located within walking distance of Old Salem, a historic Moravian Community turned historic district with charming cobblestone roads and freshly made Moravian cookies. Our office is also walking distance to downtown including a variety of restaurants and the City of Winston-Salem municipal buildings. Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Operates AutoCAD system with a high level of proficiency and working knowledge of drafting principals.
• Ability to prepare complex drawings and revises drawings under minimal supervision.
• Ability to multi-task, meeting deadlines while performing under pressure.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Conforms with QA / QC procedures during performance and completion of design documents.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associates degree from an accredited technical institute or university preferred with emphasis on Civil Engineering and/or excellent skills in CAD Design using Autodesk Civil 3D and MicroStation.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience at an A/E consulting firm, with a Civil engineering focus.
• Minimum of 3 years proven work experience using AutoCAD and / or Autodesk Civil 3D.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to multi-task, meeting deadlines while performing under pressure.
• Possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside contacts both verbally and in writing
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
