Job Title: Spanish Immersion Teacher(2024/2025)

Status: Full-Time

Reports To: Lower School Principal

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am until 4:00pm

The Woodlands Christian Academy is looking for bilingual individuals who are passionate about Christian education to join our team of experienced, motivated and effective teaching professionals in the 2024/2025 school year. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a growing dual language immersion program as part of a diverse and united team. In our immersion program, students receive all academic content instruction completely in Spanish while at the same time becoming familiar with the cultures that speak Spanish. The successful candidate will assume a classroom of 10-15 students. We strive in every way to create an inspiring and enriching atmosphere both for our students and our personnel. Every day, we encourage our Teachers to interact with their students on a personal level and to identify each student's learning patterns. We put strong emphasis on physical activity, interactive learning and the use of props and other educational tools and technology.

Requisitos:

• ser cristiano comprometido,
• tener formación académica (ser maestro de educación primaria o español),
• ser hablante nativo del español (o tener un nivel muy alto del español) y proficiente en el inglés.

Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education from country of native language
• Native Spanish speaker and proficient in English
• Teaching Certification or licensure in the relevant subject and grade level
• 3 years' experience teaching
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to teach creatively

Responsibilities:

• Create lesson plans for each class based on your experience and the students' specific needs
• Introduce interactive activities into the classroom and encourage students to vocalize their concerns and questions
• Communicate with other team members as well as with parents about students' progress and behavior
• Join the rotation of Teachers who assist with start-of-day and end-of-day student care procedures
• Organize students into small groups for social education
• Encourage creativity in students by organizing art and craft projects on a daily basis
• Create a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere in the classroom
• Oversee lunch and recess
• Listen carefully to parents' requests and concerns and address them as quickly as possible

• Possess a strong Christian testimony and be an active member of a Bible-believing church.
• Commit to personal spiritual development.
• Serve as a positive Christian role model to students and pursue Christ-like behavior.
• Be a responsible steward of TWCA’s resources and personally support TWCA’s fundraising efforts at a level as able.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

The ideal candidate can:

• Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
• Work in standard office conditions and climate.
• Work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events, as needed.
• Perform in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
• Sit and stand for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
• Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
